You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her Offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike His heel.”

    Daniel 6 - Jonah 2 - Acts 27 - Living With Gratitude
    Daniel 6 – Jonah 2 – Acts 27 – Living With Gratitude
    Series: Topical
Daniel 6 - Jonah 2 - Acts 27 - Living With Gratitude teaches us that Gratitude is learning the satisfaction in God's greatness, not our own. Living with gratitude is easier said than done! Our sinful nature defaults to entitlement as we seek our own greatness. When we face hardships and trials in our lives how do we live with gratitude? God's love and forgiveness are the foundation for a grateful heart, which we see in the biblical characters of Daniel, Jonah and the Apostle Paul. Daniel 6 - Jonah 2 - Acts 27 - Living With Gratitude is a message on how we can live with gratitude no matter our circumstances.

Living with Gratitude: Entitlement is the Enemy of Gratitude An Entitled spirit produces:
Selfish ambition Self Righteousness Self Reliance

    Daniel 6 - Jonah 2 - Acts 27 - Living With Gratitude
“Our underlying problem is a deep desire not to find our satisfaction in God’s greatness, but our own.” – John Piper In the Book of Luke, Jesus teaches: “Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayers in public. Because of this, they will be severely punished.”
    Luke 20:46-47 (NLT)   https://www.blueletterbible.org/nlt/luk/20/46-47/s_993046
How do we live with Gratitude? Living With Gratitude Begins When our Striving Ends The Apostle Paul writes: “For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God. 20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:19-20, (NLT)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nlt/gal/2/19-20/s_1093019 Living with Gratitude - Daniel 6 Gratitude is a Result of God’s Love for Us Not the love for our Circumstances Living with Gratitude - Jonah 2 Gratitude is a proper Response when we’re Forgiven of our sin Living with Gratitude - Acts 27 Gratitude brings Abundant Joy to Life’s Storms
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
    Philippians 2:3-4, (NKJV)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nkjv/phl/2/3-4/s_1105003

Living With Gratitude is Satisfaction in God’s Greatness; not our own
The Apostle John writes of John the Baptist: “So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to Him instead of coming to us.” John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for Him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at His success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” John 3:26-30, (NLT)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nlt/jhn/3/26-30/s_1000026

    Matthew 28:1-10 - The Resurrection
    Matthew 28:1-10 – The Resurrection
Matthew 28:1-10 The Resurrection story is unlike any other account among the world's religions because Jesus’ tomb was empty. Jesus' resurrection stands on reliable evidence of eyewitness testimony of His appearance, the empty tomb and the growth of the Christian faith. Literally tens of thousands of men and women have died on account of their faith in the resurrected Jesus. The early persecution only helped the church grow even stronger. Empowered by God, we see that Christianity begins to flourish without governmental power, military might or manipulation. Matthew 28:1-10 demonstrates God's love and power at the center of Jesus' resurrection, which gives Christians the assurance that those who follow Christ will also be resurrected at His return! If Jesus is in the Tomb All Hope for Eternal Life is Crushed
    Christianity Never Gets Started
The Apostle Paul wrote : " But tell me this—since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead?  For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless.  And we apostles would all be lying about God—for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave. But that can’t be true if there is no resurrection of the dead. And if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised.  And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.  In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost!  And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.

    Matthew 28:1-10 - The Resurrection

Matthew 28:1-10 The Resurrection:  Essential Evidence of the Resurrection
    1. The Empty Tomb
    2. Eyewitness Accounts
The Apostle Paul Said:  "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,   and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas [Peter], then by the twelve.  After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.  After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.  Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time."
    1 Corinthians 15:3-8, (NKJV)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nkjv/1co/15/3-8/s_1077003
    3. The Rise & Growth of the Christian Faith

Matthew 28:1-10 The Resurrection: Show Why The Resurrection Matters?
    1. Our New, “Born Again” Life is Dependent on the Resurrection The Apostle Peter wrote:  "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.  And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see."  1 Peter 1:3-5, (NLT)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nlt/1pe/1/3-5/s_1152003 2. Our Justification is Dependent on the Resurrection The Book of Romans says: "for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in Him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God."  Romans 4:24-25, (NLT)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nlt/rom/4/24-25/s_1050024 3. Our Eternal Life in Body & Spirit is Dependent on the Resurrection
The Apostle Paul wrote: "What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.  But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!  It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.  Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

    Matthew 27:50-56 – The Cross (Part 3)
Matthew 27:50-56 - The Cross (Part 3) is a message that focusses on Jesus' three final declarations from the cross. They reveal His anguish, the completion of His work to purchase our salvation, and His restored peace with our Heavenly Father. Jesus cries out "Tetelestai" translated as "It is finished" to declare His victory over Satan, Sin and Death. No matter the difficulty of our circumstances we can remember through Jesus "It is finished." Christ has paid our debt in full Matthew 27:50-56 – The Cross (Part 3): Shows a Declaration of ANGUISH & AFFLICTION The Apostle John wrote: “After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”” John 19:28 (NKJV)  https://www.blueletterbible.org/nkjv/jhn/19/28/s_1016028 In the book of Psalms is says “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

The Book of Proverbs – Wisdom for Today
    Series: Topical
The Book of Proverbs - Wisdom for Today is wisdom in practical matters of life, application of knowledge and a right relationship with God.  Our world has never possessed so much knowledge and information as we do now.  The Book of Proverbs - Wisdom for Today points out the disparity between what the bible teaches as wisdom versus what we see happening in our world today.

The world has never been so educated and literate as it is today yet, it is evident our world continues to spiral into the dark abyss of sin, selfishness and madness.  How can we be so intelligent with technology more advanced than ever, but still find our world ripping itself apart?  The Book of Proverbs reveals our world is devoid of wisdom.

The Book of Proverbs - Wisdom for Today

Wisdom does not come from a specific political party- a collegiate degree of some kind - the flag of a certain nation - or a race of people that is superior to others.  Wisdom comes from one source, above, God's Word and is given through His Holy Spirit.   In a floundering world with both infrastructure and societies crumbling- we must remember - God has given His church wisdom; not simply knowledge - but the character and the power to apply we we know to a world in desperate need of a Savior.

Wisdom for today comes through dependence on God and a humble heart.
King Solomon says: "Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10, NKJV)    https://www.blueletterbible.org/nkjv/pro/9/10/s_637010

    When gossip stops conflict end.
King Solomon says: "Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.  As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to kindle strife. The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body." (Proverbs 26:20-22, NKJV)

Daniel 1:1-21 – Purposed In Heart
    Series: Topical
Daniel 1:1-21 – Purposed In Heart is a story of four young men who are purposed in heart to walk in obedience with God even after being abducted and taken captive to Babylon. Daniel 1:1-21 – Purposed In Heart portrays king Nebuchadnezzar ‘s plan and purpose for selecting Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah who were young men from the tribe of Judah. He tried convert them to the Babylonian culture by re-naming them to Belteshazzar; Shadrach, Meschach and Abed-Nego. They endure the spiritual assault of the enemy by staying purposed in heart. Although these four teenagers are far from home, community and temple worship their hearts are fixed on God, which make them resolved to stand firm.

Daniel 1 - Purposed In Heart

The Apostle Paul says: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ” (Ephesians 6:10-13, NKJV)

The temptations of Babylon were abounding for Daniel and his friends and the enemy in our own lives attacks our spiritual disciplines, culture and knowledge and identity. Daniel purposed in heart not to defile himself with the king's food. Daniel's obedience reveals a heart fixed on God's glory and not our own.

Purposed in heart stems from a heart fixed on God focused on God's Word. Daniel and his friends discover that a heart fixed on God produces an abundant life. Daniel and his three friends fight a spiritual battle through obedience and wisdom found in God's Word. God's faithfulness leads Daniel and his friend to an abundant life evident to all. As followers of Jesus we are called to be purposed in heart as we live a sanctified life in Christ.

    Matthew 26 - Prone To Self-Sufficiency
    Matthew 26:31-35 – Prone To Self-Sufficiency
Matthew 26:31-35 - Prone to Self-Sufficiency is the story where Jesus foretells Peter's denial of knowing Him. Jesus show His sovereignty.  Jesus meets His disciples where they are spiritually to take them where they need to be. Matthew 26:31-35 - Prone to Self-Sufficiency shows that Peter was tragically unaware of both the spiritual reality and the spiritual battle that Jesus clearly saw. Peter felt brave at the moment and had no perception beyond the moment. Soon, Jesus said this not to condemn His disciples, but to show them that He really was in command of the situation, and to demonstrate that the Scriptures regarding the suffering of the Messiah must be fulfilled.

Being prone to self-sufficiency caused Peter to question God's revealed word. God's Word Reveals God's Will.

Spiritual Growth Comes by Grace Not by Merit.  Grace Flows through the Channel of Brokenness.  Humbleness come from who we are not what we do.  The disciple James says:  "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." (James 4:6-10, NKJV)

Ready For The Return of Jesus
Matthew 25:1-13 – Ready for the Return of Jesus
Matthew 25:1-13 - Ready for the Return of Jesus by Pastor JC Cooper.  The Mission Church Carlsbad

What does it mean to be Ready for the Return of Jesus?  Pastor JC Cooper teaches you the key points of this parable so that you can be prepared at all times. You will see the examples of five wise bridesmaids compared to five foolish bridesmaids. How does this parable apply to us today?  You can find out the answers to this question and more by tuning in to the following broadcast:

Ready For The Return of Jesus

We also have set up a group of Bible Study Questions.

    1. Fake Christianity

Read Colossians 2:20-23 and Jame 3:13-16

Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— "Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,"  which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.  This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

    2. Knowing and Applying God's Word

    Read James 3:17

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

    3. The Transformation of the Holy Spirit

    Read Romans 8:5-11

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.  So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.  But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.  And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

    4. Readiness Comes Through a Relationship with Jesus

    Read Matthew 7:22-23

Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'  And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

    5. The Door is Still Open

    Read Isaiah 25:8-9

He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken.  And it will be said in that day: "Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation."
