Matthew 1:18-25, The Gift of Salvation
Matthew 1:18-25, The Gift of Salvation

Is it possible that God's plans are greater than anything we could imagine, even when they disrupt our own plans? In this message, Pastor JC Cooper explores Matthew 1:18-25, where we witness God’s extraordinary plan to bring Jesus into the world. This divine intervention turned Joseph and Mary’s lives upside down, reminding us that God’s purpose often challenges our expectations, yet always leads to something far more meaningful than we could ever design ourselves.

For Joseph, this meant navigating the weight of uncertainty and risking his reputation to obey God’s call. His choice to trust and step into the unknown ultimately aligned him with an extraordinary purpose. Like Joseph, when we surrender our fears and trust God’s leading, our lives can be transformed into a story of divine grace and purpose that goes beyond our imagination.

Matthew 1:1-17, The Gift of Grace

What can an ancient genealogy teach us about God’s extraordinary love for humanity? This week, we continue The Gifts of Christmas series with the message The Gift of Grace, taught by Pastor JC Cooper. In Matthew 1:1-17, the lineage of Jesus Christ reveals more than history—it showcases God’s boundless grace. The stories of Abraham, Rahab, David, and Tamar highlight how God works through broken, sinful people to fulfill His promises. These names remind us that grace is not earned; it is freely given.

Furthermore, the genealogy emphasizes God’s unchanging faithfulness. It reassures us that no sin or failure can separate us from His love. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we see the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise of salvation. As we reflect on this truth during the Christmas season, let us embrace the gift of grace that transforms and restores us.

Genesis 3, The Gift of Hope

This week, we kick off our Christmas series, The Gifts of Christmas, with the first message titled The Gift of Hope, taught by Pastor JC Cooper. Genesis 3 reveals the first glimmer of God’s redemption plan in response to the fall of Adam and Eve. Despite the deception of Satan, the rebellion of Adam, and the curse of sin and death, God introduces hope—a promise that one day the offspring of the woman will crush the serpent's head. This hope points directly to the coming of Jesus Christ, who was born to rescue us from sin.

As Pastor JC teaches from Genesis 3:1–15, we see God’s relentless love in action. He pursues sinners, offers redemption, and sets His rescue plan into motion through the promise of a Savior. This message sheds light on why the birth of Jesus is so much more than a sentimental tradition; it is the fulfillment of God’s promise to bring salvation. The hope of Christmas, rooted in the gospel, gives us confidence that God’s promises are true—He has come, and He will come again.

2 Corinthians 5, Living with an Eternal Lens

In this life it’s easy to get caught up in the culture of perfecting our bodies. But isn't there more to life than just our outward appearance? In 2 Corinthians 5, we’re reminded that our bodies are temporary, and there’s something far greater to focus our lives on. Pastor JC dives into the transformative truth that Christ’s love not only secures our salvation but promises us a new, eternal body—one that frees us from the obsession with the here and now.

But this isn’t just about what’s to come. It’s about how we live today. Christ’s love should compel us to go beyond ourselves and share the gospel with urgency, wherever we are—at work, at home, or in our neighborhoods. This week, learn how to shift your focus from the temporary to the eternal and be inspired to take action. Are you ready to see life through an eternal lens?

Daniel 6 - The Power of Prayer

What would you do if your faith was put to the ultimate test? In Daniel 6, we find the story of a man who faced the threat of a lion's den simply because he chose to pray. Imagine being in Daniel's shoes, surrounded by those who plotted against him, and knowing that his unwavering commitment to God could cost him his life. Yet, Daniel didn’t waver. He continued to pray with boldness and faith, even when the king’s decree meant certain death. What drove him to such courage? And what can we learn from Daniel's steadfastness in our own walk with God?

Listen to Pastor JC's message, "The Power of Prayer," as he unpacks the significance of Daniel's faith and the miraculous power of prayer in our lives. This sermon will challenge and inspire you to stand firm in your faith, no matter the circumstances, and to trust in the God who delivers. Join us as we explore how prayer can be our greatest strength in times of trial.

Has God ever done an incredible work in your life, but after some time has passed you find yourself questioning/forgetting His love, goodness and wavering in your faith? After God reveals the meaning of a terrifying dream, King Nebuchadnezzar makes profound statements about God, but his lack of personal transformation reveals his superficial faith. What does Authentic Faith look like? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego face the fiery furnace for refusing to worship King Nebuchadnezzar's golden statue and their words and actions highlight profound insights on Authentic Faith!

Listen to Pastor JC Cooper's message from Daniel 3 and grow in your understanding of how to identify superficial and authentic faith in the different areas of your life. Even though Daniel 3 is an Old Testament chapter the character and redemption of Jesus is evident in this incredible narrative! God's Word acts as a mirror; the more you study the truth of the Bible the greater you understand God's will for your life.

Questions Jesus Asked, Part 4 - In Matthew 14 we watch Peter walk on water only to take his eyes off Jesus and begin to sink. Jesus asks him, "Why did you doubt?" It would be easy to blame the roaring wind or the crashing waves, but the troubles surrounding Peter are not the problem. Peter's issue is his little faith causing him to doubt Jesus. We all struggle with doubt, but we also make excuses which hinder our faith. In Luke 22 Jesus' disciples fall asleep when they are told to pray, and Jesus asks them "Why do you sleep?" Like the disciples, we all fall into spiritual laziness and Jesus commands us to watch and pray! Jacob dies and Joseph and his brothers mourn the loss of the last patriarch of Israel. Although the sorrow and pain of losing Jacob is evident, we see Joseph clinging to the truth of God's Word as an anchor and comfort for his soul. Not only does the Bible help us understand and walk through grief, but Joseph models how to "Honor Your Father and Mother" in life and death. In a society that often puts the aged away, God's Word teaches his people to care for their aging parents and grandparents! Listen to Pastor JC's sermon from Genesis 50 - Jacob's Burial & Grieving Our Loved Ones, and understand that even in affliction our faith and joy grow deeper in Christ.
In Tidal Waves of GRIEF the TRUTH of the GOSPEL is the ANCHOR for Our Souls
"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus."

"For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words."

For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Genesis 41 - 42 - Joseph - God Builds a Man
    Genesis 42:25-43:14 – God Builds a Man (Part 7)
    Series: Genesis
Genesis 42:25-43:14 - God Builds a Man (Part 7) Joseph, a Prefigure of King Jesus, employs a brilliant plan of reconciliation to rescue his family from broken relationships and starvation. Despite his brother's past sin of selling him into slavery, Joseph reveals that grace and love precede reconciliation through his incredible acts of generosity. God's plan of reconciliation through Jesus is always for your good and His glory! Pastor JC's sermon from Genesis 42:25-43:14 - God Builds a Man (Part 7), reveals the depth of God's love for you and His plan to equip you to reconcile with others!

A PATIENT PLAN OF RECONCILIATION IS: 1) SLOW TO SPEAK – QUICK TO LISTEN 2) OTHERS CENTERED 3) HAS REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS 4) STAYS FOCUSED ON RECONCILIATION
    GRACE PRECEDES RECONCILIATION
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
    LOVE PRECEDES RECONCILIATION

    Genesis 42:25-43-14 - Joseph - God Builds a Man (Part 7)
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9  Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

TWO KINDS OF LEADERSHIP: INWARDLY FOCUSED = SELF PRESERVATION (small kingdom)
OUTWARDLY FOCUSED = OTHERS CENTERED (Big Kingdom)
FAMINE OFTEN BRINGS US TO THE FEET OF JESUS
"At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?” Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

ABANDON YOUR LIFE TO THE MERCY OF “THE MAN” - JESUS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD
Joseph – a prophetic prefigure of King Jesus 1) The beloved son, sent to Israel’s tribes by the father on a mission of love. 2) Rejected by his own brethren (Tribes of Israel) 3) His tunic taken by the captors 4) Beaten and left for dead 5) Sold to gentiles for a few pieces of silver (the price of a slave) 6) Falsely accused and arrested (Potiphar). 7) Preached to the spirits in prison. (Eph 4:8-10, 1Pet 3:18-19) (to one a message of Salvation, to one a message of judgment) 8) Savior of the world. 9) Began his public ministry at 30 years of age. 10) An alleged criminal instantly raised to power, then seated at the right hand. 11) Given a name meaning: God Speaks and saves lives. 12) Every knee must bow. (Gen 41:43, Phil 2:10) 13) Espoused to a Gentile Bride. 14) His children are: “God has made me forget (sin)” and “God has caused me to be fruitful” 15) He is Lord of the present harvest age. 16) He is Lord of the coming seven-year Tribulation. 17) Israel is blind, unable to recognize the Savior King who is their brother.

Acts 8:26-40 - A Believer's Baptism answers the question of do you need to be baptized in order to be saved? In Acts 8, Philip experiences a radical encounter with a high-powered Ethiopian on a desert road and leads the man to saving faith in Jesus. Baptism does not lead to salvation or the washing away of sins, but baptism is a command from Jesus and a believer's response of obedience! Don't miss Pastor JC Cooper's message, Acts 8:26-40 A Believer's Baptism, and grow in your understanding of why you should be baptized.

The Apostle Paul wrote: "Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.  Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Genesis 23 - A Faithful Pilgrimage, demonstrates to us, through the life of Abraham, how to walk a life of faith and lose a loved one, yet still have hope. Abraham was married to Sarah for probably close to one hundred years. Losing someone that close, that you have been with such a long time must have grieved him greatly. Abraham's knew by faith that he would see Sarah again in heaven, and that gave him hope. Genesis 23 - A Faithful Pilgrimage, also show us how Abraham lived a live a life of integrity by faith, choosing not taking advantage of the people around him and glorifying God.

In 1 John 3:1-23 - The Divine Standard of Love, the assurance of our salvation is rooted in God's love through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our culture produces many versions of love, but only one love is divinely defined by the sacrificial love of Jesus. Listen and learn about God's love so that you can identify counterfeit versions seeking to pass as the real thing! God's love produces true love revealed in our relationship with others in the church, which brings assurance that we are saved. The Apostle Paul said, "For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin."

"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice [iniquity] but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

    1 John 2:18-3:3 – The Father’s Love
    Series: Topical
In 1 John 2:18-3:3 - The Father's Love is perfectly revealed in His Son Jesus Christ, whose second coming is on the horizon. John warns his readers to be ready for His return and to watch out for the deceptive work of Satan through antichrist messages. Antichrist means instead of Jesus and it is the Holy Spirit who equips us to discern the truth of God's Word versus false narratives peddled in our government systems, social norms and even in the church. Don't miss this Sunday's message in 1 John 2:18-3:3 focused on The Father's Love, which gives us confidence that we are His children and He is preparing us to experience the fullness of His glory!

    1 John 2:18-3:3 - The Father's Love
    Antichrist = Instead of Jesus
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

We can only Identify antichrist propaganda by abiding in Jesus's Word
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert  the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. 1 John 1-2 – The Assurance of Knowing Jesus
    Series: Topical
In 1 John 1-2, The Assurance of Knowing Jesus, John expresses the perfect character of God as the initiating truth in our relationship with Jesus. Our merit, self righteousness and hard work can never earn God's favor because He has chosen us to be in relationship with Him through the blood of Jesus, which cleanses us from all sin. Like a child in a trusting relationship with a loving dad, we obey God's Word as a loving response to His love for us. Therefore, we confess our sins knowing that repentance assures us of our relationship with Jesus who is faithful and just to forgive us. Listen to Sunday's message from 1 John 1-2, The Assurance of Knowing Jesus, and be encouraged that we can be assured of our salvation!
1 John 1-2 - The Assurance of Knowing Jesus God’s Will & Character Never Leads You into Sin
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

1 John 1:1-4 – The Transmission of Joy
    Series: Topical
In 1 John 1:1-4 - The Transmission of Joy, John the apostle testifies to the vital importance of an abiding relationship with Jesus. John self-identified as "the disciple whom Jesus loved" and according to the Scriptures, our highest calling in life is fellowship with God, which brings us the fullness of joy. A genuine relationship with Jesus is not found in going to church, being a good person or being religious in rules and regulations. A real relationship with Jesus begins with God's love for us and our joyful response of obedience to His Word. In 1 John 1:1-4 - The Transmission of Joy, we are called to be the disciple whom Jesus loves as we joyfully abide in relationship with Him and others.  1 John 1:1-4 - The Transmission of Joy   Since the Beginning God Has Been and is Pursuing a Relationship with you   How Can I be Certain God desires a Relationship with Me?   Jesus is:

Why do we Pray? Our Prayers Matter
The Apostle James wrote: "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.  Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.  And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit."
